BVGEC’s work is powered by people who believe in community-owned renewable energy. Volunteers support projects, committees and specific areas of the co-op’s work, contributing their experience, ideas and time where they can make the greatest difference.
Some opportunities are short-term and project-based. Others involve ongoing participation with a committee. Whether you have professional expertise to share or simply want to learn and contribute, we’d like to hear from you.
How you can contribute
Project supportHelp move a defined renewable energy or community initiative forward.

What volunteering looks like
Volunteer assignments are organized around specific tasks, committees or project outcomes. BVGEC matches volunteers with opportunities based on their interests, experience, availability and the co-op’s current priorities.
Time commitment
Most ongoing roles require approximately five to eight hours per month. Short-term assignments may require a smaller or more concentrated commitment.
Support and mentorship
Volunteers are paired with a BVGEC board member who provides direction, training and support.
Flexible opportunities
Some roles are attached to a single project or event, while others involve longer-term committee participation.
Meaningful experience
Volunteering is an opportunity to contribute to Alberta’s renewable energy transition, build new skills and connect with others who care about community energy.

You do not need to purchase a BVGEC membership share to volunteer. Membership is separate and is required only for those who want voting privileges or wish to become eligible to invest.
